What makes Honeymoon Beach special
Honeymoon is the “best of both worlds” beach — a genuinely calm, pretty cove that still has a few creature comforts. The water is protected and clear, the sand is soft, and unlike most of St. John’s quiet beaches you can actually rent a chair and buy lunch without packing it in.
For decades this was the private beach of the Caneel Bay Resort, so most visitors never saw it. Since the resort closed in 2017 it has been open to the public, but it still flies under the radar compared with Trunk or Maho — which keeps it relatively calm.
It pairs naturally with Salomon Beach, a five-minute walk away, if you want to combine a comfortable base with a quieter, more remote stretch of sand in the same trip.

Park rules: No amplified music on any Virgin Islands National Park beach. Reef-safe sunscreen is required (chemical SPF banned in the USVI). Protected wildlife cannot be touched, fed, or chased — stay at least 10 feet away.
Getting there: Honeymoon Beach is reached from the Caneel Bay parking area, then a short safari-taxi ride (a small per-person fee) or a walk down to the cove. There is no National Park entry fee, but bring cash for the safari taxi and rentals.
